![]() His co-lead, Adesua Etomi – who played Dunni Coker – did a very good job as she always does. Kudos! If I didn’t know Banky W as a musician, I’d vow he’ll make it as an actor: he played the lead role of Dozie Onwuka which such excellence one could easily think he acts for a living. Whoever supervised the casting did a superb job. The actors were the main dish: I could have swore I was watching a real Nigerian wedding ceremony. The costumes were on-point, every aspect of the props used were very good. Almost everything about the movie was perfect, because she took something almost every Nigerian can relate to and made it extremely colorful. ![]() I must commend Director – Kemi Adetiba – for a job well done. Obianuju Onwuka (as played by Ireti Doyle), all make for a very interesting watch. The insecurities of the virgin bride concerning the reformed playboy groom, the feel of superiority by members of both families, especially the groom’s mother – Mrs. It takes things a step further by making the lovers persons of different ethnic tribes who take a vow of chastity as they look forward to their ground-shattering wedding night. Just as the title reveals, the movie details as much as it possibly can the excitement of a Nigerian wedding. Having watched it now, I regret I didn’t do so sooner. The buzz this movie generated in the media upon its release in December 2016 caused me to almost bat an eyelid then. I haven’t been this high after watching a Nigerian movie for many years now, until The Wedding Party. ‘ The Wedding Party’ swells your emotion all the way, and the scriptwriters did a good job.Starring: Bankole Wellington, Adesua Etomi, Sola Sobowala, Alibaba, Richard Mofe Damijo, Ireti Doyle, AY, EmmaOhMyGod, etc. The scenes are as exotic as with the first movie. The locations where the movie is set are magnificent. The director of “The Wedding Party 2” is different from the first, but still did a good job. The camerawork is good throughout the entire movie, and kudos to the team as they captured every bit of the dance. One very good Deirdre moment that I believe is worth revisiting was during the announcement of her engagement to her parents and the dance around the house. To be honest, Daniella Down performed distinctively and she is among the few that put in some really good acts. Spectacular scenes of Dubai the Wedding Party 2 (Photo: skeeze) They should have elaborated on this, but that was probably not the messages they wanted to send. So basically, this movie qualifies.Īlthough, we were hoping they would throw more light on that topic, instead they made it more about flamboyance. ![]() As we see it, this is a commentary on interracial relationships and marriages, and the unnecessary blaze it stirs up in Nigeria. The story is lifted by the relationship of Diedre (Daniella Down) and Nonso (Enyinna Nwigwe) evolving into marriage. ![]() The good thing about it is that they stuck to romance, as with the first movie. Scenes from The Wedding Party 2 (Photo: EbonyLife Films) But the fun is the same and the story remains beautiful. They are still two different movies with different messages. Diedre, one of the bridesmaids who appeared in the first movie, and Nonso are now two of the central characters.Ī movie like this is difficult to review without comparing the first part with second since there are plenty of similarities. This is the sequel for the 2016 movie ” The Wedding Party”, however, Dunmi and Dozie aren’t the centres of the new release. Although this movie is not about them, this is just the hype, and it is definitely one worth seeing. It is tempting to watch a movie where both Sola Sobowale and Patience Ozokwor feature in. “The Wedding Party 2” features one of the most amiable group of cast in a Nollywood movie. ![]()
